I had girlfriends before – but just due to circumstance, them not being ready, me not being ready etc – it never happened until I was 20. I felt very awkward that I had left it so long and only admitted to a few close friends that I was still a virgin.

I’d been with my girlfriend at the time for about 3 months, she had been very patient. Eventually when I decided I was ready, I had built it up in my mind so much that I had a panic attack within a minute during sex and lost my erection. This put me off sex for quite a while and ultimately led to our break up 3 months later.

As a guy I feel if i had lost it in my teens it wouldn’t have been as big a deal, however, when I met my current girlfriend in 2011 at age 24 everything just clicked and we have a great sex life, so I am glad I didn’t sleep around when younger and saved a lot of the experiences until later in life. One reason it clicked now is that I didn’t realize until my mid-20’s that I actually had a fetish and needed to wait for the right understanding person for sex to work.
